Government Access

There's been a lot of news about companies helping the government by extending access to the data on their platform. Some of these behaviors are more harmful than others. Below are a handful of common questions we get asked, as well as answers as to the benefits and harms of sharing information with the government. Don't see what you're looking for? Why do companies give government access?

It's important to assist law enforcement when possible in order to uphold law and order within society. Some companies may encrypt information, which means they cannot share all information but they may still participate in legal obligations up until the point they're incapable of sharing information.
